As you can see from the signpost, we are not talking about Massachusetts here; we are talking about "the way life should be".

Cambridge was set off from Ripley in 1834, and borders Dexter, Penobscot County on the east, and Parkman, Piscataquis County on the north.   Population from federal censuses is:
1840   -  461
1850   -  487
1860   -  516
1870   -  472
1880   -  472
1890   -  425
1900   -  364
1910   -  369
1920   -  318
1930   -  324
1940   -
1950   -
1960   -  354
1970   -  281
1980   -  445
1990   -  490
2000   -  492
2010   -  462

Some of my ancestors settled in Cambridge in the 1840s, Joseph Leavitt born 1782 (and 3rd wife Mary Ann Walls born 1808 and her mother Sally Carter Walls Wilkins born 1782), and Calvin Morgridge born 1816 (and wife Elonia Paine Mason and her siblings and mother Mercy Paine Fish Mason Dunham). Their mothers had remarried in Cambridge.

I am turning this page into a complete "Everything about Cambridge" page. Send me your stuff, and/or links to other existing pages. Thanks.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help transcribe the microfilm to create a vital records book for Cambridge-Ripley. Maine Genealogical Society will be publishing and donating a copy of the book to the town.  Email me.

I will search my records for whatever you are looking for. Depends on my schedule; may be same day or may be a couple weeks.  Here are the Somerset County records that I have:

Cambridge only has two cemeteries, unlike many towns which had one in nearly every back yard. See below for printouts of who is buried in these two cemeteries and many photos of the stones.

Cambridge Cemetery #1 - Cambridge Memorial Garden: updated 5/2014. I have photos of most stones to be uploaded asap. I retyped the entire thing. Instead of having it alphabetical like the old original I got, I recorded them by row stone by stone so you can see who your ancestor's "neighbors" are and where empty spaces are, to help provide new clues for you.   Photos coming back very soon.

Cambridge Cemetery #2 - Mt Pleasant Cemetery updated 10/2009 - being re-sorted by Lot # asap
